After a hiatus, the annual GOAL Ball, one of New York's most popular annual charitable events, is making a comeback. The event is set for Gotham Hall in Manhattan on Friday, November 11.
The GOAL balls, held in several locations across the world every year in aid of the international humanitarian agency, have always been hugely popular occasions, according to a statement from GOAL.
"Several GOAL Patrons, including GOAL U.S. president and ex-tennis star, Mats Wilander, and renowned New York-based Irish tenor, Paul Byrom, are encouraging all ex-pats and native New Yorkers to chalk the date for the NYC event down in their diaries," the statement added.
"The GOAL balls are extremely enjoyable wherever they are held, but the New York event has always been that little bit special," said Byrom, who has traveled with GOAL to visit some of their projects in the developing world.
"I would urge everyone to make the effort to attend or support GOAL in some way on the night and help them raise as much money as possible for their overseas operations," he said.
The New York ball will be a black-tie event with all proceeds going towards GOAL's work in the developing world.
Founded in Dublin in 1977, GOAL has responded to almost every major natural and man-made disaster and catastrophe in the past 34 years and is currently operational in 13 countries in the developing world.
Since its inception, the organization has sent in excess of 2,300 volunteers - dubbed "GOALies" - to work alongside many thousands of local staff in more than 50 countries and has spent in excess of $1 billion on the delivery of aid to the poor.
Those wishing to support the New York ball can purchase individual tickets (priced at $250) book a table for 10 people, book corporate tables, donate prizes or auction items or simply make a financial contribution towards the cost of holding the event.
