St. Patrick's Day Memories: Ronan Tynan

My favorite one is when myself and Tom my brother walked in the parade in Tipperary dressed as two famous hurlers. I was Ollie Walshe, the Kilkenney goalkeeper at the time and Tom was Babs Keating, a famous Tipp hurler.

Have you ever marched in the New York City St. Patrick's Day Parade? I joined the parade in 2001 with (fellow Irish tenor) Anthony Kearns, walking up Fifth Avenue and meeting Cardinal Egan. I was wearing black woolen trousers - I will never do that again! We had just come out of the Adrian Flannelly Show and just decided it would be a great experience. Five essential Irish albums that should be part of everyone's music library: A Woman's Heart by Mary Black and friends; The Irish Tenors Live from Dublin; Anything by The Dubliners; The Joshua Tree by U2; Celtic Woman. How much green do you wear on March 17th? If I'm performing, some shamrock in my lapel. If I'm out for a formal dinner, a classy green tie. If I'm on the rant, an Irish green rugby shirt. Do you eat corned beef & cabbage on St. Patrick's Day? How about soda bread? I eat boiled bacon and cabbage, and soda bread - if it's fresh, and there. (And lots of it!) Favorite Irish film?
