They will be joined on stage by "Rats" author Robert Sullivan for their musical history entitled: "If It Wasn't for the Irish and the Jews." The NYU ethnomusicologist Moloney will explore collaborations between Irish and Jewish composers around the turn of the 20th century.
Quinn told the Echo: "Writers love to appear with musicians, and when the musician is as talented and accomplished as Mick Moloney and the subject is as intriguing as the Irish and the Jews -- two of the most intriguing tribes on the planet -- the attraction is irresistible.
"And what more can you say about Bob Sullivan that hasn't already been said by his creditors, ex-girlfriends, the National Enquirer and the New York State Office of Parole?" Quinn added. "This is a writer who wrote an entertaining book about rats [subtitled: "Observations on the History and Habitat of the City's Most Unwanted Inhabitants"]. He knows how to keep people's attention as well as get it. I just hope he leaves the rats at home."
The event will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 at the Angel Orensanz Foundation Center, 172 Norfolk St., between East Houston and Stanton. Tickets ($10, or $5 for members) are available at the door only.
