Did the Yankees rush to judgment when they benched Ronan Tynan and should the tenor be allowed to perform again at Yankee Stadium?
A disgrace. What was worse was his crawling apology afterward.
Finbar, Ireland
The Yankees did the right thing. I thought RT's little comment was funny and harmless, as I?m sure a lot of people did. However, had the Yankees done nothing, they would?ve been labeled ?Nazis? by all the screwball sensitivity groups.

Ethnic jokes tend to backfire even when no bigotry is meant. I'm sure if it were a Jewish man that made the joke to the broker and possible tenant - it probably would have been laughed at and regarded as just Jewish humor. I don't believe Tynan has a prejudice attitude to anyone.
Bill Hurley, Massachusetts
Ronan Tynan is not a bigot. The fact that the N.Y.C. Jewish organizations are inviting him to their banquet proves that. The Irish and Jewish peoples share a history of persecution. Ireland has elected two Jewish Mayors of Dublin. The Mayor of Cork was Jewish. The Briscoes and Goldberg's are prominent families in Ireland. Jewish citizens of Ireland are very prominent in Irish society. The Yankees over reacted. Go Phillies.
Kevin P. Murphy, Massachusetts
Nowadays, one has to be very careful and be very politically correct. Because Ronan is an Irishman who used the J word, he got hammered.
Michael O'Sullivan, Florida
A loose tongue harms the heart & hurts the soul.
Ronan has paid the price. Forgiveness should come next!
I hope that we all turn over a new leaf!

The Yankees caved in to "political correctness" RT has no axe to grind, I applaud the Jewish groups for reaching out to their friend. Shame on the Yankees for not backing one of their greatest supporters. GO PHILLIES!!!!
