Do you believe that Congress will pass health-care legislation in time for the president to sign in the fall?
29% answered Yes - Please Comment
67% answered No - Please Comment
4% answered Not Sure - Please Comment

Absolutely. President Obama will ensure it gets done pronto. He's brilliant and has the knowledge and expertise to get his reform plan out to the masses. With the help of the big corporations, the old white congressmen/senators will try and make up erroneous stories about said health-care reform plan. By doing so get some of their uneducated constituents whipped up into a frenzy by telling them Obama will let seniors die because they are old and infirm and going to expire anyway... crazy stories like this unfortunately are believed by said constituents. They tried it during Obama's campaign by saying he was an Arab and hung out with terrorists. In a nutshell, they just cannot accept our president is "black in the White House." So un-Christian.

The rising groundswell of public oposition to the health care plan is causing representatives to give serious thought to it. They are not going to be able to just sign it off without essentially reading it. Their constituents have educated themselves about the negatives and are forcing representatives to answer.

I don't think it will pass, at least not in its present form. I do believe that the Medicare/Medicaid systems are broke & rife with fraud & abuse. We should concentrate on rebuilding those programs before we allow the government to control 1/7th of the nation's economy. From Amtrak, to the Postal Service, to Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac, they've never operated anything efficiently.
Matt Dinzey, New York

President Obama will prevail. He has the skill to do so and get this bill passed. It's for the good of the country and not really bipartisan. Yes, we get all the rhetoric from senators on both sides -- gum flapping to pander to the less educated among us who don't understand the 1,000 page bill or perhaps if handed same would not be able to read it. Behind the scenes, the bill will be signed, sealed and delivered. No one is going to kill grandma/grandpa. It's hilarious that anyone this day and age in our country would believe such nonsense. Then again these are the same people who didn't know Hawaii was an American state. Give me a break.
mark miller, Florida

Fear of losing their jobs will keep Congress from enacting the radical health care plans that Obama is calling for. Also, Mr. Saunders, with all due respect, which of the following two statements do you assert as being untrue: (a) Obama was friends with William Ayers, or (b) William Ayers committed terrorist acts?
Marty, Illinois

The whole plan is misguided, the estimated cost is prohibitively high, and the anticicapted savings are rather questionable. Hope the Republicans and Blue Dog Democrats are able to put the brakes on this terrible idea!
knugent, New York

Yes it will get passed; our resolute President will get it done quickly and efficiently. Its de ja vu all over again, didn't the Republicans try and stop Medicare also back in the day? So here we go again. Fortunately, our brilliant Pres. has the majority, if the so-called Blue Dog's don't 'grow a pair' and vote with him - they are doomed come mid term elections. I rest my case.

Whenever this bill passes I hope that veterans hospitals will continue to receive adequate funding because, as a former marine, I receive excellent health care from the V.A., including prescriptions, at a very low cost.
Seán Mac Curtáin, New York

No. There are too many people making tons of money from the status quo. And they are spreading it around the whorish politicians who can't help themselves.
