Which is your favorite Frank McCourt book and why?
Frank McCourt enjoyed life as a writer and was very true to himself. Riding high on the success of his book "Angela's Ashes", in a Dublin hotel he calmly announced," with due regard to the historian's , the worst thing that happened to Ireland was the state of the Catholic church and the incredible power it was to enjoy for such a long time". Bearing in mind this was long before the RYAN Report or the Ferns report, or god knows how many other reports re: the horrendous child abuse by the catholic clergy. McCourt was a man ahead of his time. Angela's Ashes was my all time favourite.

Frank wrote from hard lived experience in depression era Limerick.
Despite the fact that his family fell on hard times, his Limerick humor oozes from cover to cover in Angela's Ashes.
His Mother Angela's ashes story is funny, but I rather loved how he destroyed the money lenders ledger & used her money on her death to escape to America.
We shall not see his like or dark wit again. We Salute you Frank as you crack jokes upstairs ar Neamh!
