In light of the very poor showing by both Fianna Fail and the Green Party in local and European elections, should the Irish government call a general election?
If they had a shred of decency they most certainly should call for a general election. Ireland is a democracy and the people have spoken loudly and clearly - they want Brian Cowen and party OUT ASAP. This election wasn't a defeat it was a bloodbath. The Green party became FF's chumps and they too got exactly what they deserved - their walking papers. Both parties are pathetic to even want to hold on - don't they have any shame! I say goodbye and good riddance to both of them.

The Finna Fail administration days are numbered, it is just a matter of time. They are not only lame ducks now, but paralyzed. How can they govern when they don't have the backing of the Irish people? The economy is not going to rebound in the short term and now they are faced with a serious problem of deflation which in essence is much worse than inflation. Its over....
