Fenians will be remembered in Pawtucket

A fundraising gathering in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, this weekend is aimed at raising money to erect grave markers in honor of two Fenians, Thomas Darragh and Robert Cranston.

The event is set for the Galway Bay Pub on South Bend Street and will run from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Darragh and Cranston were two members of the “Fremantle Six,” all of them Fenians imprisoned in Australia, but rescued by the ship Catalpa and brought to America in 1876.
