The girls outperformed the boys nationally, it was reported when 58,543 students got their Leaving Certificate results yesterday morning. And very close to the highest end of the scale were two students from Dublin’s Loreto College, 18-year-old Dervla Brennan from Clontarf, who got 577 points in the college entrance system, and Eleanor Coleman, also 18 and from Rathgar, who got 601.
