“I always looked up to Celtic Woman in particular, because they were doing something inherently Irish, but on a world stage.”

So Éabha McMahon told the Echo’s Colleen Taylor in April.

Now McMahon is an integral part of the Celtic Woman Destiny World Tour, which arrives at the New Jersey Center for the Performing Arts on next Thursday. During her column, Taylor commented: “After 10 years, Celtic Woman are not doing the same thing they were in 2005, as Éabha McMahon’s involvement with the group evinces. A trained sean-nos singer and Fleadh Ceoil champion, Éabha embodies and enhances Celtic Woman’s most recent artistic vision, which is an authentic, organic Irish musical score, summarized in their latest (and arguably best) album, ‘Destiny.’” For tickets: njpac.org, 1-800.GO.NJPAC. Dreams dashed

The Republic of Ireland soccer team will face hosts France in the European Championships on Sunday morning, with more than a few fans remembering the last game between the nations, which made world headlines. And that 2009 game will be invoked, too, in “The Parting Glass,” on Saturday night in the Bronx. The Poor Mouth Theatre Company’s production of Dermot Bolger’s play will be performed at 7 p.m. at An Beal Bocht Café, 445, West 238th St. It’s billed as a “hilarious, uplifting and life-affirming show” set on the night Thierry Henry’s left hand dashed Ireland's World Cup dreams. It is about the return of a man to the land of his youth to witness the Celtic Tiger turn to ashes, to say goodbye to his past and find hope in his future. Featuring veteran Irish actor Ray Yeats, “The Parting Glass” is a “universal story of friendship, family and fatherhood.” Tickets can be purchased at brownpapertickets.com.
