Haire has served on the board of Concern Worldwide U.S. for 18 years.

“Jack brings a wealth of experience to his new role,” said Cahalan, who has worked with Haire for the last eight years on the organization’s board.

“He is an accomplished businessman, savvy about media, digitally literate, and a great leader.
“Perhaps most importantly, he has been a longtime presence on our board, is passionate about our work, and is a role model of our values.”

Haire, added the release, comes to Concern with 28 years of experience at Time Warner Inc., where he was Executive Vice President of Time Inc. and President of the Fortune/Money Group.
He was also publisher of TIME magazine and engineered a partnership with CNN on the launch of CNNMoney.com, one of the world's most successful finance websites.

More recently, he was the CEO of Parade Media Group from 2009 until its acquisition by Athlon Media Group in December 2014.

“The work that Concern does is so meaningful and epitomizes what I want to do at this stage of my life,” Haire said.

“I am joining an organization with a rock-solid foundation and bright future built on a proud legacy of lifesaving emergency response and transformative, long-term development work in some of the world’s most vulnerable countries. I am honored to join Concern Worldwide U.S. as CEO.”

This year, Concern has launched what it terms as “an ambitious strategic plan for continued growth and expanded profile in the U.S., which Haire will lead.”

Haire’s Irish family roots are in counties Monaghan, Cork and Antrim.

Stated the release: “Concern Worldwide U.S. (www.concernusa.org) is an affiliate of Concern Worldwide, a non-governmental, international humanitarian aid organization dedicated to reducing suffering and working toward the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty.

With nearly 3,000 highly skilled and committed staff, Concern has an on-the-ground presence in 29 of the world’s poorest countries across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and the Caribbean.
